Hi everyone! Well I finally have some time between customers to try my hand at warping up my loom for the first time. There is some thing has to be said about doing something for the first time. It has been a great learning process for me already. I know what not to do and Iam still learning on what to do the right way. Let me tell you how it has gone so far! Well it started a couple weekends ago on a Sunday. I thought since the guys were working on the roof putting new shingles on and I hadall my chores done for the day and it was rather quite I would try to warpmy loom. Well I started using my spool rack and tension box for my loom and started winding on my warp to the warp beam and I thought I had done 18 rounds in each 1 inch section and had done 44 sections. Thats right if you do the math I was starting my first project with a 44 inch wide piece of fabric. I just don't start small for my first project I have to go big! Well it got it all on and started to move it up over the beam at the back of the loom and in the middle of my warp 10 inches came untaped and I had 13 yards of disaster on my hands. I mean to tell you I had 120 threads all tangled up and it took me the rest of the week to try to untangle the mess.So I have been working on re warping the loom and I am taking my time in doing so.I tell you it has been a great learning experience for me I know now to make sure that the tape is on there securely! I do have a picture of the tangled mess I will try to get posted on here the next post. I have to go and try to finish warping my loom. Chat with you soon. |
