Spinninig Lessons

I know I have not written since I posted about the craft show but I have been busy getting things done for our son's graduation. Like make the announcements, putting together a scrapbook of his life, and of course cleaning the house and front yard. It took me a solid week to clean the house and do the front yard and I forgot that i had muscle in certain places. It took me a whole week to recover from that. So far I have 32 people that have R.S.V.P. so far that will be coming to the party after the graduation. That won't be to bad because cooked for that many this last Christmas and it was just family then. My sister Jane was a jewel and called our other sister Julie and asked if she would make the cake for Daniels party and she said she would. I completely forgot that Julie makes cakes for such events. I have

been so busy with every thing else I just forgot. I just have to get a photo for Julie so she can put it on the cake and finish decorating it . She really does a nice job!

Today I have a private spinning lesson I am giving to a woman in Broken Bow in the afternoon at her home. The class I was giving was a bust on the 18th of April no one showed up for it. But I had this lady call me this week and asked if it was too late for the class and if she would be to far behind everyone else and I told her that no one showed up for the lessons. If she still wanted to learn I would be happy to come to her home and give her private lessons. she was happy to hear that I was willing to do that and I said not a problem. So this afternoon I am giving her private lesson on the drop spindle and I think I will take my electric ashford and roberta along so she can try them. Well I have to go and get busy I will keep you posted!

I know it has been a

while since I have posted

anything but with getting ready for the craft show

and being 3 weeks behind

in the truck books, and only 3 months on the farm. Also

designing Daniel's Graduation annoucements

I had my hand full so you can say! so here are some pictures from the show my table was the last one you will see in this post. Yes! you will finally see what I look like. A face the all these words I post on this blog! The mystery is over I am not this faceless person who just types these words. I am rather shy about having my picture taken and especially having it posted out there in

Internet space. Oh by the way I am not the one in the green jacket! HA! HA! That is my Dad I am the one in the lavender shirt. As far as the show went I think it went well for the first show I have done with my fiber business. I really was not expecting very much interest from the people but when they saw me spinning and the yarn I made and the colors I dyed them, they seemed rather interested in what I was doing. I even had some of the people sit down and try their hand at spinning on the Ashford electric spinning wheel I brought for demonstrating spinning. I will be having a spinning class at the Hobby Shack this

Wednesday April 18th from 1-4 pm for those who want to learn how to spin on a drop spindle and work their way up to a spinning wheel. the class is $25.00 for 9 hours of instruction on a drop spindle. The 9 hours are broken down into 3 classes. I look forward to seeing any of you there. Well I have to go and do my book work for the truck and the farm now. YIPPY!!!!

I am really impressed how well

the yarn took the dye. I am weaving a rug for the entryway for our home. I am using a black cotton warp so it tones down the brightness of the color of the yarn a little and I hope it will hide some of the dirt that will be brought in form the outside. At least it sounded good when I thought about it we will find out when the rug is finished. I will keep you posted on the outcome of the rug and show you when it is done. Back to work I go!

Hi Everyone, Here is the new

product it is dye for yarn or wool or any other animal fiber you can think.

It is put out by Greener Shade and is environmentally safe it does not contain any harsh metals. I spun up some of our corriedale wool to try out the new

product to see the colors and also that way I have a color record of the dyes. I like the dyes and the they are not hard to use they are and acid dye, that can be used with citric acid or just plain old vinegar. I tried both ways the citric acid and vinegar and found it easy to use did not have any problems using the dyes at all. We will now be offering a dye service for those that would like their wool or other fiber dyed. these are the basic colors pictured above. From left to right the colors are Sunset Orange, Sunshine Yellow, Flame Red, Ruby Red,River Blue,

Amethyst Purple, Amazon Green, Coral Reef Aqua, Midnight Black. They are bright and vibrant colors. We will be playing around on mixing them to get other colors and will keep you post of any new and up coming colors.

She is a 7 year old Australian Shepard she is a red tri and I think she is wonderful. Just recently we had to put down a long time friend and member of our family due to very server allergies to fleas. Yes that is right Ellie was so allergic that she would chew her self raw and loss all her hair. Have you ever seen a bald border collie before it is not a pretty site at all. So we decided that we wanted another dog to keep Nena company and one that I can train for a stock dog to help me with the animals here on the farm.

The nice thing about adopting an older dog is that she is partially trained and so it won't be that difficult to finish training her. She is such a sweet dog and she seem to bond with Juan, Dad and I yesterday we will bring her home on Tuesday and training is going to start after she has time to adjust to her new home. when we get Ginger home I will get more pictures of her to post. chat with you later!

I have posted 2

of my 11 fleeces from this years shearing. They are both about 6 pounds and have been skirted and scoured also picked. All this work has been done by hand I am selling them either by the pound or whole fleece which ever you prefer. they are both really soft and have a staple length of 4 inches. these are off our sheep that we raise on the farm. I am asking $25.00 a pound for they already picked not carded.Or you can buy it by the ounce for $2.50 an ounce already careded into roving. If you are interested in some of this wonderfully soft wool to work on this winter you and contact me by our email

fiber2spin@yanezfarms.com

Here are the pictures are I promised I would post. The top one is where I had just finished winding on the warp. Doesn't look all nice and neat! I was so proud of myself and then I went to the next step where you are to bring it up and over the back beam. I had about 1/2 of the warp up and over when the middle sections started coming untaped from th stick they were placed on. Well lets say I had a few choice word to say rather loudly at the time it happened. this picture on the bottom is when I had most of tied up and was trying to untangle the mess. It had taken me a week and a half to undo this mess. So I have learned a very important lesson don't bump the warp beam with you knee! I do have some good news to say though and it is I am almost done with my second wind of the warp and may be I will be able to finish dress my loom by the end of the month! HA! HA! Keep your finger crossed!

FALL IS COMING

Hi everyone, I think fall is starting to arrive. For about the last 4 days now when I get up to go help with chores and get Daniel ready for school it has been cool in the morning.Yeasterday it really felt like fall and when it is cooling the morning I like to was my fleeces. I know it sounds funny but in the summer time it is too hot to be working with hot water and stand in the hot sun to wash fleeces. Especially when the humidity is around 75% to 99% it just make for a miserable time to wash fleeces for me. I did try to do it this summer and all I could get washed in 2 weeks was 2 fleeces. So you could say that it was not very productive time for me in those 2 weeks compared to me washing a 1 and 1/3 fleeces yesterday. That is even including me running to town to get more soap and mesh bags to wash the fleeces in! It also helped that I got these really great blue tubs from Papa and Mama Wiese to try to wash my fleeces in. Let me tell you they are a savior in time instead of just one tub to wash wool in I now have 4 tubs and my poor hot water heater could not keep up with all the hot water I needed to do my washing. So today is another cool day and guess what I am doing yup I am washing wool and having a good time doing it. I would like to try to get all this years fleeces washed before the first snow falls so this winter I can sit and pick wool all winter and stay warm.
